Hellboy only more Metal

So the new Hellboy (2019) move trailer came out and the studio's song choice of "Mony Mony" really ruined the trailer for me so I thought I'd try to replace it with some other music (Iron Maiden - Transylvania). I Hope you enjoy it!

What fixed "Windows 10 Black Screen After Login" for me.

I've run into this issue every once in awhile, where logging into Windows 10 is very slow, and after I get past the login screen, I just get a black screen. I see my cursor, and can launch the Windows Task Manager, and can run some EXEs, except for explorer.exe. This seems to happen after a reboot, but I couldn't find the cause. I usually have to re-install Windows to get over it, but after running into it again, I found a new solution online.

More Xbox 360 games enhanced for Xbox One X!

In what is becoming a very welcome trend, Microsoft announced another round of Xbox 360 games to get 4K support for Xbox One X. The games include,  Darksiders, Gears of War 2, Portal 2, Red Dead Redemption, Sonic Generations, and Star Wars the Force Unleashed.

The updates were released on March 10th, 2018, so I had a chance to take a look at each of these games, except for Sonic Generations which I don't own. If you're a fan of these games, or if you've never played them before, playing them on Xbox One X will be a real treat!

Wolfenstein II: The Freedom Chronicles (DLC)

The last of three episodes of the Wolfenstein II DLC, the Freedom Chronicles season pass was recently released. I hadn't played the first two up to that point, so I decided it was time. Each episode, has the chronicles the adventures of a different American fighting against the Nazi invaders. Each of these characters has their own motives for taking up the fight, and they each have their own special skill.

Microsoft introduces Graphics and Performance modes for Xbox One X Backward Compatibility

Microsoft has been pretty steady adding Xbox 360 games to the Xbox One compatibility list, and recently with Xbox One X they've started adding them with 4K support. A few days ago they added four games, Fable Anniversary, Crackdown, Forza Horizon, and The Witcher 2 to its list of Xbox One X enhanced games. These games will run in a 4K resolution, at 9x the original resolution, but there is now an additional option which is Performance mode. In performance mode the game will ditch the 4K resolution, which could help the games ability to run at a higher frame rate, if unlocked, or provide a more stable framerate if capped. In order to toggle the setting, you need to open the Xbox 360 guide by pressing both the view and menu buttons on your Xbox One controller, then go to Settings.

A return to the racing game Split/Second

Split/Second is an arcade style racing game by the now closed developer Black Rock Studio and published by Disney Interactive Studios, for MS Windows, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. What made this racing game unique was its fictional reality television show theme, and its "power play" feature, in which rigged explosions or booby traps could be triggered remotely by the player, or AI opponents. These two aspects really made for an intense racing game that is sure to increase your heart rate and make your palm sweat, which I loved to play.

Update on games from E3 2017 I was looking forward to

This last E3 there were several games that caught my interest, and now that six months have passed, I thought I'd share my thoughts on the games that have been released. I

Games that I played

I thought I'd start off with two of the games I bought and played.

Cuphead

What a very cool game. I've never played a boss rush type game, but really enjoyed it.

The visual style of the game is great. Where other games have used flash type animations, this game used hand drawn animation, and it really made the characters/bosses come alive. I wasn't the only one by the way that loved the art direction, as the game won Best Art Direction at this years Games Award show.

In addition to the wonderful look of the game, the mix of shooting, platforming, and figuring out how to beat those dastardly bosses was great. The game is hard, but for the most part if feels fair. Each boss fight has several phases with patterns that you have to learn. The tricky part of these boss fights is that the patterns for the phases switch up, so the fight always feels fresh and challenging.

Here's a playlist of Cuphead videos I recorded while playing:
