I replayed about a half hour of the 360 backward compatible title DOOM 3 BFG edition, before I decided whether or not it would be worth purchasing the new port of the game. While playing the backward compatible version I started to notice all of the jagged edges, and shimmering on patterns. Once I saw those graphical issues, I knew I wouldn't be happy playing that edition anymore. If you'd like to see a comparison of the two, side-by-side, watch this video:
While recording footage of the Xbox One version, I didn't have the flashlight shadows enabled, which isn't an option in the 360 BFG edition, but as you can see in the video above, there is quite a difference between the two. If you'd like to see the Xbox One edition running on Xbox One X in 4K watch this video:
All in all I'd say this is the best way to play Doom 3 (BFG edition) on console. If you haven't played it before, and you're looking for a good horror FPS, I believe it's definitely worth a purchase at $10. I would also say that it's worth picking up even if you already own the 360 BC version, if you have an Xbox One X, and a 4K TV.
